i have my 9 inch odoe with a malabaricus and a giant gourami. they are all about the same length and never bother each other. they each kind of have their own level they hang out in. gourami on top, pike in middle, and hoplias hanging out on the bottom.
was considering putting him in with my jardini (also around the same size) but thought better of it.
they'd probably wind up eating those convict cichlids if they weren't full size.
off topic, I always have small schools of green cory's in all my tanks as clean up crew. none of the larger fish ever eat or touch them even if they've been starved a couple days - even the smaller corys that would easily fit in their mouths. wondering if they innately know that corys have the spikes or what.
