Sorry about picture quality.

These two Odoes haven't eaten since they were introduced into the tank 3 days ago. The datnoid in the same tank with them is as greedy as ever. How long do these fish normally take to settle in?

I have not kept them but read that these can be nervous to settle, like many predators I wouldnworry for at least a week.

yeah give them alittle longer if they don't eat for like 2 weeks then you need to worry

The dat isn't. There are always feeder guppies swimming around but the Odoes simply ignore them. Do you think the guppies are too small? I'm thinking of getting large platies/goldfish for them.

It seems that it's not a question of large or small feeders. They just don't want food. Today I got them some larg-ish platies - completely ignored. :(

Give it sometime, how big is the tank? water temp and PH? From what i learn with mine one, they can be very shy and takes pretty long to settle in...would be great if u can post some full tank shots...:)

It's a 3ft tank. Yeah I know it's small. Temperature is room temperature...I'd estimate it to be 27 degrees Celsius or so. pH is pretty high, 8.0 or higher, due to the crushed coral I have in the substrate and filter (to keep hardness and pH levels more or less constant). Do you think the pH is too high?

id take all food out of the tank and leave it a couple of days.mine usually gorges his self then doesnt eat for 2-4 days depending on how much hes eaten.

i dont ever feed live although hes eaten a few of his tankmates :headbang2.

try dropping food in with some power( eg prawns ) and drop them pretty hard in to the tank one at a time.this sometimes triggers a strike on the food you put in to the tank.if its a strange food, the pike will mouth the food, spit it out,eat it etc etc.

my pike is 11" long and eats prawns, hikari cichlid gold(any size) the odd piece of meat for a treat.he also eats frozen lance fish.

in a nut shell, starve them for a few days then introduce just one prawn.drop it in the tank with a bit of force.the odoes will go for it sooner or later.

ps 2 odoes usually spells trouble as the bigger/greedier of the 2 will kick the smaller ones ass.if your tanks big enough, get another odoe
mark.
