I am feeding him with flowerhorn food cause I also owned and breed many types of flowerhorn. I still have another two of this midas they are both male much better looking too but they are with my parents house and they don't want to give them back anymore.

He is beautiful.. i am thinking of breeding red devils if i have a pair..which i am almost certain are male and female.. but how did you begin.. with the pair.. are midas as nasty as red devils .. he looks just like my red devil so i cannot tell the difference yet.. some it is obvious ..but yours it isn't.. to me anyway.. I am afraid that they will kill each other .. is it a good time to put them together when they're breeding tubes are down.. all i have to do is lift the screen and they would be together.. i can breed the other cichlids with no problem.. but when it comes to the red devil it scares me i may lose one or the other and i am so fond of all my RD"s...Just wondering if the midas are about the same as the RD.

red devil, midas and flowerhorns are very aggressive fish. they will kill thier mate if you are not very careful. you said they they are in the same tank with dvivider? that's great but when you lift the divider they fight. what you could do is to watch them for a long time. most of the time when they try to mate they will fight for good hours 4-5 hours locking lips, bitiing each other and etc. if fighting dont stop them separate them. other thing to do is I hate to say this but if the male bigger and more dominant than the female you need to get a different male. you should get a smaller male just a bit smaller than the female. before you put in the new male you have to change the water 50% and rearrange the decorations totally and also remove the female. put the male in first for a couple of hours and them the female. this should work if not them you have to start all over. mean to say buy a lot of small ones and a pair would eventually form from that pack.

Thank you for this information and very good info at that.. the one plus is that these two have been with each other through the {screen} for a long time. so i am hoping they have already accepted each other... i figure i will be watching them for a long time after i let them together..great help that you told me what to expect once they are together.. for instance they will look like they are fighting but i just have to make sure i am there in case it crosses the line..
