Okay, these are my "blue" prints.
The building starts tomorrow. Ordering my Pond Armor tonight.
2 things I'd like to mention:
** I do want exterior support. JUST in case. Everyone here is about overkill right?
Maybe not THIS MANY 2x4s, but I want some. Remember the tank is 40" wide, so those 3 2x4s on the sides will be spaced out a bunch.
Maybe even 2x4s connecting horizontally to the 2x4s running parallel across the back.
Too much?
** And my glass is starting 6" above the base of the tank, right? Or does it "start" on the inside where it overlaps?
I was suggested by someone - that this may help with support and pressure at the base.
Each grid square is a 2x2 inch.
The 2x4s in this picture aren't proportioned like everything in the grid picture above.
Also, I'll EVENTUALLY cover the exterior with some kind of wood. Maybe wood flooring and stair-noses on the corners.
Insulation in between the exterior and interior wood because -
THIS IS going into a GARAGE!
Hur hur. I already have some of that bubble wrap insulation and pink insulation. I currently use the bubble wrap insulation on my glass tanks - even inside my house. (I used to breed convicts to feed to my Doviis).
Here's the tank I'm getting my glass from:
I am a bit worried about the bottom of the side glass having that 90 degree flare or lip sticking out that glues to the base of the tank. But if it does, I'll just put a 2x4 or something to but it up against.
