Waiting for my clothes to get done in the laundry, I was sitting here thinking.
Why does my channel cat eat EVERYTHING except the Pleco that cleans his tank?
Do they smell bad? Or are they just that unappetizing?

Flippy grew up with a pleco, 2 corys, and a 4 line pictus.
1 of the corys met and untimely end in my sump, the other died from the same infection that my pictus did. The pleco got to 8 inches and then mysteriously died.
Chewie the pleco was found floating on his side one morning, obviously it was a homocide, probably from an old lover who couldnt stand to see him with another tank.
I digress.... :screwy:
Flippy, now bordering on 20 inches has never attacked a pleco his entire life.
This is good, but I still want another tank mate for him.
Considering Ive went through A LOT of others trying to find one suitable, what do you guys suggest for this rather violent fish?

my 24" channel lives in peace with oscars, jags, cons, 4 line pim, clown knifes, firemouth, etc.. seems to me you just happen to have a monster attitude fish. or maybe mine is just a puss

My channels live with yellow perch for right now (they aren't that big yet though... so well see what happens when the channels get bigger lol
I've kept them with oscars and jags too though...
Any large cichlid should work...

the only fish that eats plecos is the arapaima

Not true my red tail has eaten 2 of them at over 7" but that is what I figured too I thought they were safe. Just goes to show you nothing is safe with an RTC

My 11'' channel lives with a 6'' pleco.
Used to have african cichlids in the tank, channel ignored them.
Had the channel with some dats for a while too, didn't even notice them.

yeah lol an rtc would pobably eat a Freshwater stonefish theyr just like gluttons...must be easy to hook them!:headbang2

something fast as lighting imo

I think the pleco's armor and sandpapery feeling makes them less appealing as a snack. My TSN ate a couple of tankmates much larger than my little gold dust pleco that was in there with him.
