I understand it would be better to use sand rather than barebottom...but what if you have a power filter? Will the ray kick up sand into the power filter? Should the suction valve on the filter be modified to be higher?

Who says sand is better than barebottom?

I would choose barebottom anydays, unless its a display tank full of other fish and your trying to recreate a biotope.

Well I think I just shot myself in the foot. I got the sand and now cant get the water to clear up.

add a prefilter or sponge over the intake... problem solved.

as for it being cloudy, it will til it settles, unless you didnt clean it real good prior to putting it in the tank :WHOA:

i agree less chance or unwanted critters growing in your tank and attacking your fish

OK one more...I know I should have done my homework before but couldnt pass up the deal. Why is the section where the tail meets the disk and the section heading up to the eyes fluctuate so much. One day he looks too skinny...the next he looks fine?
