My tank is a 36 gallon bowfront tank, about 3 months old now, I have no protein skimmer, and I have great lighting that is 24'', a hang on the back dual filter, and a heater. Water temp. is 81.1 F and SG is 1.024, and I have red hair algae all over. It is nice, but too much algae. I don't have a reef test kit, but I put all the chemicals necessary in it, such as Natural Trace Elements, Eco Iodine, Stress Coat, Stress Zyme+, AlgaeFix, and Reef Buffer. I have live rock, and crushed coral as the substrate. I have a Hammerhead Coral frag (looks sick) a Purple Tip Anemone, Sea Grape plant, and a Pulsing Xenia coral. I have a healthy Clown fish, Pink Dotty, a Blue Yellow Tail Damsel, and a Peppermint Shrimp, and snails. Two Circulating pumps. I don't use R/O wtaer, but that's why I have been referred to the chemicals by the LFS (Local Fish Store) I feed the fish and Anemone frozen brine shrimp, a Marine Cuisine mix of frozen shrimps and other frozen meals, and a few frozen blood worms occasionally, and Flakes for marine fish. Any advice you can give I would appreciate it. Can you tell me what I need to do to fix the algae? And what other foods do I need for the anemone and fish? Different lights? Or chemicals? I know most reef keepers don't use chemicals, but I do because I can't afford the special filtration and high tech. gizmos and such. Thank you so much. I cant upload any pics, but if you have texting, I can send you a pic of the tank, and I have Verizon. It dont matter though what company you have, its free for me. But My number is 4 1 9-6 3 2- 5 5 5 3 my name is Cory. Just text me and say I'd like to see your tank, and I can send pics of the other freshewater tanks I have too. If you want.

Interesting posting your cell number haha, to each their own i suppose. So algea, since you dont have a skimmer and have limited budget I will suggest what I suggest to everyone with algea problems regardless of budget, build your self a algea scrubber, cheap/easy DIY that should if done correctly remove almost all algea from your display tank.

You don't need to add any of those things you add, your salt mix should put you close enough to necessary parameters.

I have live rock, and crushed coral as the substrate.
Replace the crushed coral with argonite sand, it will increase denitritification(remove nitrates) and prevent alot of build up of waste.

Reduce the amount of frozen brimp shrimp and blood worms they have alot of phosphates(cause algae).

when ever possible I recommend a skimmer, perhaps a used needle wheel coralife off ebay.
for the red hair algae I say buy a baby tang then take it back when it gets bigger
