Heres my FH.. His name is Shrek. I am not sure what type he is.. maybe someone can ID for me. I've had him about 2 yrs now.. and he was much brighter when I first got him. How can I bring out his color more?

My husband wants to trade him in for something more colorful.. but he has lots of personality and I like him. What do you guys think??

Hes currently sharing a 90 gallon tank with a female convict.

Let me know what you guys think! :)

Feed Krill and a variety of foods. If you change up his backgroound he may color up some as well but diet will help alot. Color enhancers do just that.

Very pretty fish with good shape and I am sure he is a friendly fella. After 2 years it would be a crime to get rid of him.

Change his diet a bit.....they make special foods that are made to make flowerhorns look their best.....the tank looks fine in terms of color....I have the same natural stone gravel in my Flowerhorn tank and my Flowerhorns look great...

Thanks, I am going to get him some Krill this week and see if it helps. I do need to do a big water change and his pink gets brighter for a day after.. he used to have so much more of the green though..

He is a beast.. mean as heck.. everyone who comes over loves him! But hes not as bright as some of the gorgeous flowerhorns I've seen on this site.

Any ideas what kind he may be?

In my opinion, he is a Red dragon ZZ. But the quality is not as good as the other red dragons we see here in MFK.

I love his KOK shape and his fading double flowerline.

I would suggest giving him shrimps, krill and blood worms combined with pellets that contain high asthaxanthin such as Grand sumo RED or Hikari bio-gold plus.

I know its hard to let him go.. Try to improve his colors so that your husband changes his mind about this guy.

Good luck.

The flowerline was not faded when I bought him.. I am going to get him some new treats and hope it helps... I feed him Hikeri Gold pellets, and he gets treats of mealworms, and crickets and ocassionally we put feeders for a treat. I'll try the new foods and see if he colors up some more.

Thanks for all the comments and advice everyone! :)
