Well I got this tank for free from my father and I currently have 4 baby Ocells in here. All I have for now is this HOB filter. I know overkill is a good thing so pretty soon ill be getting a big bad canister filter that I'm going to be using on my 180 gallon that these guys will be moved too. I plan on running it for a few months in this little 50 gallon. I know it's a lot f filtration but you can't go wrong right. Then ill be moving the fish and the filter all at once. To the new tank and obviously the water will be treated in the new tank. I'm just wondering if a huge canister pump would be too much for a little 50 gallon tank. I just figured it would be the easiest way to grow my necessary bacteria in the new filter. You guys are pros so I always want to run things by you guys.

Depends if the current from the canister is too strong or not. If it creates a whirlpool and blows the bass around...then its too much.

Yeah that's what in worried about :( well I'm gonna need one anyway for the 180 so I suppose ill try it out and see how it reacts in there it's 36X18X18 so I bet it will screw it up. Damn it sounded like a good idea lol

Yeah it's not like it's a waste of money I'm gonna need it any-how. It would make the transfer to the 180 a breez in the long run. Basically as long as the fish seem comfortable with the current it's a go right. As long as its not too overwhelming like a brook trout environment lol
