Herichthys Carpintis Escondido, so I picked up 3, the larger fish has really vibrant colors at only about 1 1/2, the question I have how do I know if Escondido is a real fish and not a man made strain/hybrid, or this fish in particular...I don't recall hearing or seeing an article regarding the collecting of this strain, your thoughts?

I spent most of yesterday looking and from all the maps I've looked at (and from natural range maps for carpintis) I think I have a likely location. Laguna La Vega Escondida is a lagoon near the mouth of the Panuco river. Rapps got his originally from Conkel and Conkel has had carpintis from the lagoon across the river from Laguna La Vega Escondida. It's a lot of correlation and guesswork but it's by far the most likely guess I have.

Edit: talked to Mr. Conkel and it looks like I guessed correctly! Sorry for dragging you all along that personal journey!
