just bought a beautiful wild hero notatus male/female pair thats about 5inches. are the females generally larger than the males?

All of my wild notatus are relatively small compared to other severums, but the male is still larger than all of my females. They're very easy to tell apart, though. Males will have the incredible black/maroon spotting all throughout (see my avatar) while the females seem to lack this almost completely in the head/gill region.
My male topped out around 8" or so while my other male severums made it to like 10". My female notatus are only 5 - 6".

thats so weird cause the two i have one is brilliantly colored while the other is kinda bland but the bland one is chunkier and more aggressive
All of the severums at the new england aquarium are notatus and they are all at least 10" with one or two pushing 1' with the females being on the smaller side

I think that one is a female. She's lacking the spotting on the face and cheeks. You got lucky and got one with nice patterning on the body. My female notatus don't really show much spotting on the body.
