I am seriously thinking about getting some of these guys but honestly the pics I'm seeing of them have just been kind of average. Maybe someone that has them can shed some light on this for me? Also how aggressive is this cichlid? I am thinking of putting them with severums, geo's in a community tank but have heard they can be a bit aggressive. I would love to hear some thoughts from members that actually have this fish. Thanks

Yes, they can be a bit pushy, both with each other and with tankmates. They harassed my Geos but seem to be doing well with very large severums. I have my 5" Heroina in a 210 gallon with 10 - 12" Heros sp. Atabapo and they hold their own just fine.
Some people may not think they're very pretty but I love their shape and the females have nice colors when they spawn. They have a cool blue iridescence in their dorsal and the eyes are bright red. You can see it in the pictures and videos I posted.
I will have small F1s available very soon -- the current batch is about 1/2". Just waiting on warmer shipping weather.

Wait until they start spawning.
The good news is that most of my pairs are pretty gentle with one another. I see some split fins during actual spawning, but both parents tend to work well together from that point on. Any other fish in the tank doesn't fare well, though.
