These two have colored up and have taken over the right side of the tank. This was a nursery tank and is a bit too overcrowded. The plan is to remove some tank mates and get them to spawn...

I think you have two females like I did. ;) All of my females are spawning with each other at the moment. They are much chunkier than the males and show a lot more blue. The males tend to have lots of black flecks on their sides and usually a more elongated body. Do you have other Heroina in the tank?

The larger fish in the front looks like it could be a male, but its fins and body shape are still throwing me off a bit. All the males I got from Jeff are really long and thin. He posted a picture in his vendor forum of a pair forming, and you can see clear differences.

Good luck! Maybe if yours spawn and produce fry, there's still hope that some of my extras are actually male.

I had a smaller fish and a larger fish pair off. The smaller fish cleaned the flowerpot and cleared sand away from the spawning site while the larger fish chased off tankmates and defended the area. When it actually came to spawning time, they both had what looked like female breeding tubes. The eggs turned white after two days and they ate them, but the pair is still defending their territory. Now I notice other females in the tank with tubes down.

Surprisingly, I have smaller males in the tank, but the females chase them into corners. Maybe they're still too young yet.

You can see them both here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ar7COmknyXI

For contrast, here are the males. Notice how long they are, and their anal and dorsal fins extend almost past their tail.

I have five of them (the smaller ones) in a 55 and the rest in a 150. I'm actually in the process of setting up a 150 for the whole group but not until I'm back from my vacation at the end of September.

I'm thinking about putting them in a 65 breeder by themselves. I'm also thinning our herd, because we are getting a bigger house soon, so Idk if I should just wait. I will be able to get more tanks when we move too, lol.
