Hey,
Any clue what species this Heros belongs to?
I am keeping it with 5 sb red spotted Heros and 5 Uaru amphiacanthoides.
It's the only specimen fighting with the juvenile Uaru.

It’s a bit too small to tell. The red spotting that’s starting to show on the gill could suggest H. sp. rotkeil but they usually only have eight bars and though your Heros is only faintly showing, it appears it has nine. This could mean it’s just a young H. efasciatus.

I've kept my share of Heros over the years, but not to the extent Ryan has, so I'm inclined to defer to him. Still, I bred rotkeils for a few years and I wouldn't think rotkeil from that photo, at least not full blooded, but that could also be due to lighting in that particular photo. Different lighting, or daylight, no lights, and I might think different.

IMO it's still too young to tell. The red in the gills makes me think rotkeil but until adult coloration starts it's really anyone's guess. A lot of juvie Heros look the same.
