Heros rotkeil

Hey all.

I plan on taking the angelfish pair, cherry barbs, and kuhli loaches out of my 55G. I want to put a pair of Heros rotkeil in. I have a friend that has 10 juvies right now. He said he would give me however many I wanted and give back whatever I didn't wan't when a pair formed.

Will a pair do well in a 55?
Planted or no?
Tankmates?
How will they do with an open top?

They love to eat plants.Id say a 55g is a bit tight to grow out a breeding group.

you could grow a few out till they get about 5" at most. i have a pair of severums in a 55g with tank mates. they breed and make it hell for the other tankmates. they'll have the 55g to themselves in a little while

wider tank would be better but 55 would work for a bit
