Hi' All,

Noticed some golden ish looking egg on top of a cave in the tank:)

There is not a great deal so presume the other inhabitants have eaten a few. Should really of taken the tank mates out but as my what i brought as 'Breeding pair' havent done anything for a few months i presumed i was mis sold them so put tank mates in their.

Should i take the egg's out and put them in a small container with a air filter;
Try getting the tank mates out and risk stressing the sevs into eating the eggs;
Leave it and see how the sevs get on? atm i have my new lyonsii babies in one corner of the tank and the loaches in the other.

Also anyone know how long they take to hatch? Once hatched i presume they'll be fine in the mouth of the adults?

Congrats!

I would let your severums handle themselves. Often it takes multiple breeding attempts to become good parents. It takes between 3-5 days for the eggs to hatch and about 5 days for the fry to become free swimming. I remove my fry right when they become free swimming. If you want to prevent young loss you can remove the other fish but once your severums become better parents they'll make sure none of the other fish get close. Btw sometimes the severum pair will eat the eggs so it might not be the other fish.

Cheers for the advice:) They are still their this morning and one of them is stll right next to them, like you said they might not get it right so i will let them get on with it and once the eggs have gone or i ahve fry i'll remove most of the tank mates.
