So there is a herp store near me and only half the animals that they have in there are for sale. The other half of the animals they have not for sale(NFS) and have NFS signs written on the tanks because those are their pets lol.

Have you guys ever seen something like this?

Yes, there's a store near me that does the same thing. Most of the cages don't even have prices, so you have to ask an employee and even then they might not know what the price is supposed to be or you get told a price that's way more than it should be... For example, they wanted $400 for a hatchling pinstripe ball python with a terrible temperament (about $250 more than a reptile show), and that was on sale! I understand that places need to make money, but that seems like a very excessive mark-up. As a result, I rarely go there and almost never buy anything.

I've been to serveral petstores, in MA, MI, and FL, that have done this.

If I had a petstore I would be tempted to do something similar, but only if I had the space necessary to set up the animals exactly the way they should be, not a typical petstore display setup. It would give customers a better understanding of what they would need in order to properly house their pets for life. It would also advertise the type of animals that I'd be able to order in for sale, and hopefully boost supply sales if it was advertised that replicas of those custom enclosures were also available for sale.

Sadly, most stores with in-store pets that I have seen don't do it this way.

Thats crazy lol. I can get pinstripe ball pythons at my lfs for $150 haha.

That is an awesome idea!
