Just wondering if you can overfeed a baby pbass. one of my 2.5" Monos eats, and eats, and eats.....and then eats some more, i feed them frozen tilapia and shrimp. I have had him to the point where, i swear he was gonna bust wide open. Drop another piece in, and bam..he's all over it. Is this ok? SHould i just keep feeding him until he doesn't eat anymore?

lol its cant be . oscars have been known to eat until they burst so im sure you dont want your baby dat to blow up on ya do ya??

On the bright side though...he's catching up to my 3.5" Orinos QUICK! He must have grown 1/2" in the past week. But i don't want to mess him up by overfeeding. Anyone else? Where are the pros at?

there is a line.. dont grossly overstuff your fish ;)

I usually just feed mine till there bellies look nice and full then stop. You can always give him a second feeding when his belly has settled down a bit.

When they are young (under 4 inches), feed them multiple times per day. Feed them just untill they start to show a slight bulge then stop. I would feed them that way 3 times per day morning, noon and night. On days that you cant do noon then feed them twice. As they get older slowly reduce the number of feedings but increase the amount. For example at 3" my pair of Orinos and a Mono would split a cube of frozen bloodworms or glassworms 3 times per day. Now at 14" they split half a flat of silversides and about 10 market shrimp every other day. Over feeding can cause the fish to become obese and "pancake" shaped as adults, which is undesireable. Multiple small feeds per day is far better for them than one huge feed.
