Heterometrus sp. ?

Hi MKFs,

The scorpion attached is what Heterometrus sp. ? I am told by a friend of mine that it is more or less an asian forest scorpion.

Heterometrus longimanus or Heterometrus petersii ?

based on the flicks i have seen it looks correct but im not positive...but i will tell you im scared of that picture...hate scorpions...

Hehe... Perhaps the photo makes the scorpion look huge eh. They do not sting as readily as bee though, and eagerly grabs its prey upon contact.


Anymore takers for the ID of this scorpion ??

that pretty much looks like a Heterometrus sp.....
I've got 4 of my own....caught them wild...and they've settled down well....

it looks like a H. longimanus based on the length of the pedipalps.
there is also a possibility that that scorp could be a H. cyaneus if it turns greenish/bluish under sunlight.
H. spinifer's range is limited only in malaysia, thailand and some parts of indo-china.

Thanks everyone for the inputs, I am still confused about the ID though. I got them from Malaysia, but not sure if it was caught there.

Anyway, here's a possible pregnant girl, after she disseminate her mate several months ago. Really hope to see some babies soon.
