I'm looking at buying a tank I found for $650 it comes with stank is very oddly shaped in my opinion. Overall length is 9'2" and 40" wide 24" deep. The center rectangle is 6' x 40" with 19" on either long end that comes to a point the overflow is on one side of the the in the middle.

I was thinking about using this for a discus tank but was concerned I may have to have too much flow for the discus to effectively filter the tank. Also how big of a sump tank would I need I calculated that the main tank is 340 gallons. I'll be building my own sump.

Any suggestions for this build my last experience with discus was disastrous mainly to me being new to the hobby and putting discus in a community tank that among others contained a 22" pleco

I am having a hard time picturing it in my mind...and as you stated, "very oddly shaped in my opinion. .." why not spend the $650 on a more traditional tank. Even if you had to get a stand or make one, there are a lot of options for $650....just my opinion.
I would love a picture....maybe it's awesome....

I'd be very interested in seeing this thing. It sounds like it could be a very cool tank, but as mentioned could be a lot of unusable space.
Maybe good hiding spots for smaller or timid tank mates though. ....

Well I bought the tank and on the way home some guy pulled me over and asked if I was willing to sell it. I told him everything has a price and that I just bought it and was bringing it home. He offered me $1200 for I had to take that offer I told him to get cash and call to meet me at the police department to do the deal he agreed. I was sure he was blowing smoke but he came through and bought it and asked if I'd be willing to deliver I had on the trailer so I had no problem with that. I proceeded to follow him and arrived at his place and we got it to where he wanted it. He offers me a drink I said sure he comes out with a 14' snake and thanked me for his snakes new home and gave me $300 extra for delivery and helping him get it in his house.

Now I got $1500 to spend on a aquarium I'm now considering a truly massive plywood tank. Somewhere in the 16' x 4' x 30" range. Do you think $1500 will be enough to pull this off? I know it will take a few months to build and I'll be spending more than the $1500 on stand foundation work filtration ext. Ect. But do you think it would be enough for the tank itself

Looking for a source for lowish cost of 3/4" glass of acrylic. This stuff is super pricey in oklahoma city. Lowest quote thus far is $1000 for a 4' x 8' sheet I can get it much cheaper but would have to buy 50+ sheets at a time then I could get 1" thick 4'x8' for $495 a sheet 3/495 would only be $10 less so i d most definitely go 1" if I could afford to buy 50 sheets at a time. I have yet to find anyone that I can get the glass from locally for any cheaper.
