I've got a flat back hex and I don't know how many gallons it is. Other than filling it up by the bucket, is there any formula for determining gallons in a hex?

It's like geometry.

Find the surface area of the base and multiply it by the height. Each inch cubed is .00432900433 gallons, and each cm cubed is 1 milliliter.

But the surface area of the base varies because of the different sizes of each seam. Normal rectangle aquarium formula is L x W x H divided buy 231 cubic inch per gallon. Is there a simple formula for hexes?
