Do you guys have any ideas on how to aquascape hex tanks? We have a 46 gallon hex that needs some work and we can't come up with anything. I have some nice pieces of driftwood but they're all too long/tall to fit in there. I've tried looking around on the internet and most of the ones I've seen are boring. Pictures are helpful ;)

I don't have any pictures of a tank set up like this but I do have an idea for you, Use light natural colored medium grain gravel, place a large point of smoky quartz or even obsidian (with any sharp edges sanded off) in the center. Then take a piece of well cured manzanita with all the bark removed and place it so it spirals up and around the stone. Manzanita often forms twisted spirals as it grows. (You may be able to get a member in Ca. or southern Oregon to cut you a piece, You will need maximum measurements.)
Then plant the foreground with dwarf or pygmy amazon swords (Echinodorus tenellus), a dwarf crypto (Cryptocoryne nevellii )at the stones base, a few corkscrew vallisneria (Vallisneria spiralis tortissima)around one side of the back, and some anacharis (Elodea densa) in a clump at the other side of the back.
The manzanita is often sold online just google "manzanita tree", I could also picre replacing it with a large whitetail deer antler but that would eventually start leaching a bit of calcium into your tank.

Ive seen some nice hexes at LFS. They usually have a nice center piece driftwood in the center and some plants placed around that.

Ive also seen a hex that had stacked rocks in hte back and looked nice as a cichlid tank.

I have a 45 hex too had the hardest time cleaning and maintaining it the foot print is to small so I turned it into a cali king snake home much more fun and easier to maintain just a thought.

I have a 45 hex and love it. What I did, was made the rock substrate angle up in the rear and put some bigger flat rocks to kinda hold it up, like a hill. Then I put all kinds of plants all over the place. Start with the short to medium to tall plants finally in the rear. It gives lots of hiding places, but also gives enough room to see the fish.
