My flowerhorn has been producing white fluffy poop for a while now and he is not eating as aggressively as he used to. I have been treating him with a bath of metronidazole and feeding him medicated pellets, but it does not seem to be working. Any ideas on what else to do?

How did you come up with hexamita as the cause? Try levamisole hydrochloride or flubendazole. Both are more effective than metronidazole and praziquantel as they cover a wider range of internal parasites compared to the latter.

It was from research here on this site and the web. It is an educated guess since I'm not going to take him to a vet to fully confirm the presence of hexamita critters. Isn't Levamisole HCI potentially lethal if given in too high a dose? I see the I need to administer .076 of a teaspoon for the proper dose of 2mg a liter. How the heck do you measure that out? Any help or suggestions would be great as I've never had to treat such a problem before.

I used tablets of this med so it is easy for me to measure out the proper dose I needed. Try this link for detailed explanation as they had used powdered levamisole hydrochloride.
