So my new community tank seems to have an outbreak of Hex after some new arrivals. I am currently treating this tank with Metranidizole. My question is: how much do I have to worry about transferring this to my other tanks? I always wash my hands after doing anything with the infected tank and have allowed all of my buckets, siphon hoses, etc. to dry thoroughly. Should i soak everything in a Metranidizole solution? Treat my other tanks just in case? Do I need to worry about transferring it to my salt tank? Answers to any of these questions by someone more knowledgeable than I would be appreciated.

a couple of my fish started pooping this white stuff. although they were eating at first, the affected ones started to get really skinny, sunken stomaches. this progressed to the point that the affected ones seemed weak and disoriented. at that point, they died very quickly. best diagnosis i could make was hexamita. the metronidazole also seems to be improving their condition so far.

Don't worry about transferring it to your salt water tank. In your other tanks keep your fish immune system strong and continue with what you are doing right now. Metronidazole is best for hexamita.

i had the same problem with my festae ,its a internal parisite that can be treated with jungle internal external parasite clear it worked for me.

I would bet it was some intestinal parasite but not neccessarily Hexamite. Too many of the others are a lot more common. Although Metro (also called Flagyl) works on a good share of them anyway, praziquantel probably is a better bet if only one is used. Jungle Parasite Clear & General Cure by API both have praziquantel & Flagyl together in them. That's what I use on all new fish in quarrantine. It's cheap, easy to use & you can find it even at WalMart now. I never assume it's "this or that" until it's actually been diagnosed under a microscope. Until then it's only a guess.

I'm not a fan of PC. Do you have access to Jungle Antiparasite foods? This one has metro, prazi and levamisole.

Metro deals with hexamit (flagellates).
Prazi deals with cestodes (flatworms) and trematodes (flukes).
Levamisole deals with nematodes (camallanus and capillaria).

This one can cover all four types of internal parasites.
