Hello everyone.. It's been a long time (over a year I think) since I logged in here.. my collection has grown significantly, and it seems to be every day lately.
I moved my shop to a 4235sq ft building, tons of room for all my tanks and enclosures.. The shop is partitioned in such a way that none of the metal anything gets in where the animals are.. also isn't so bad with noise except for when the compressor fires off...
anyway.. I'm still building the heavy duty metal stands, and lots and lots of other stuff..
on to the animals...
my 100 gallon currently has 3 oscars, about a dozen JDs, and one rather large RBP. my 55 gallon has 6 juvie RBPs.. when they grow up, they're going in the 100, the oscars will be re-homed at a friend's in a 75.. the JDs are being picked up left and right by other friends. my 90g is the home to my 2 ball pythons, the 15L has my albino king, the 40 has my red rat snake (corn snake duh), another 55 has my Colombian red-tail boa, another 20L has my California King... ..and I'm currently building a proper enclosure for my newly *RESCUED* Burmese Python....
the guitar player for the silly cover band I play in told me about his ex-gf's daughter and this snake they got. They're poor, they live in a trailer.. they smoke cigarettes non-stop in there.. apparently they recovered it from another set of dumb****s that had it in a rubbermaid tub with no water, no bedding.. ..no basking light... and a wound and infection on its right eye. When I went to this dump to inspect the snake, the humidity level was at 40 points. I was enraged at that point.. the enclosure they 'built' is a joke. OSB with screws poking through and storm door screen wrapped around... no way for humidity to stay in.. it was about 65 degrees in the trailer.. y'know cuz they gotta have A/C...
"yeah when we got him it looked like he hadn't eaten in a while so we gave it two small rats.. the next day he still looked hungry so we gave it a big rat"
....I know you're all with me on this one when I responded...
"I imagine you came to that conclusion from your vast experience with reptiles? ..and tell me.. exactly how did you decide that a snake 'looked hungry' ..I mean.. if you can tell it looks hungry I'm wondering why it's so cold in here and the humidity level is at 40% instead of 70+ where it should be"
I had to stop myself from beating someone when it was stated
"snakes are cold-blooded so uh..."
and the best one "well it just looked hungry..." and then the defensive follow-up that they were trying to do the best they could.. ..without any.. y'know.. RESEARCH.
anyway.. to make a stupid story short.. I'm in possession of the snake now and it will be living in a f-in MANSION compared to what it was in...
..so anyway... I apologize to those who sent PMs asking about steel stands and whatnot. Some of you can't get responses because you need to dump your in-boxes!
