Hi Folks.

At las I was able to get my hand on some P. caribe, I am quite thrilled because of this.

I present some pictures that I took in my seller's place and that is not all, let me tell you this guy has actually managed to make their caribes to spawn!!!!.  :headbang2

The fry:

You may think these are RBP fry since there is no difference so far but take a look at this other group:

There are loads of picts coming with the parents of this baby and fry.

It is amazing....

Here are the parents in their 300 gal setup. You'll see there are RBP and caribes mixed (16 of them), this guy breeds both, although he says it is far more easy to make the reds to spawn than the caribes.

He says this female is one of the two and the most prolific caribes that he has been able to make spawn, she is about 13".

D-Walt, those are not my fish, those are my seller's fish and he breed both, caribe and reds.

I bought 3 of the babies and this weekend I'll take them home, the seller is keeping me the caribes because i am preparing a setup for them.

When they're at home I'll try some snaps you'll see.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers.

Armand, that's awesome, congrats on the new purchase man. caribes are awesome.
just get few more than what you need. one of my biggest lost an eye during a fight (i'm pissed). it was just a scratch it was complete damaged...and one is showing some pop eye so be sure keep the water crystal clean (sure you know that already). I blame it on the gravel I have in that tank :irked:
what size tank you gonna have them in?

oh, do you think the seller is willing to let a little secret on how to get them spawn? I so want to breed mine.

Hi. Jp.

I am keeping them in a 26 gal just for a little time. I am getting rid of 3 of my redbellies, (I friend of mine wants them) and when the caribes are about an adequate size I am moving them along with the reds to the 98 gal.:)

Now it's impossible to house them along with the reds, the difference of sizes would make the caribas being my reds next meal.

Of course I'd like to keep them all but I am not able to get a bigger setup.... So I am keeping just 5 maybe 6 pygos (3 cariba and 3 reds).

I know what you mean about having piranha casualties, however I feel confident since I haven't lost any of my original 6 reds so I feel optimistic about my being able to keep the 3 new guys alive and well although I am very aware one never knows when talking about pygos.

JP I'll try to get info from my seller about breeding caribes and let you know if I can. he is a pretty helpful man however he is not my friend, our relatioship is that of costumer-seller. If I ask too much questions he might think I want to breed piranha myself and get into business fact that can cause his not giving me all the info.... :screwy: You might find it odd but that's the way mexicans think. Despite, i'll see what I can do.

Cheers.

Wow! Thanks for sharing the pictures. That 300 gallon setup looks nice.

Congrats man thats neat
i hope there are other p's available here but all i can get is rbp's
