Please, Peanut. It's pretty tough ID'in these guys when small without pics.

Can we get a picture thread dedicated to Juvi's and showing what they are and what to look for. Then pics of them grown if possible.

If not, oh well, I gave it a shot.

yeah that would be pretty sweet but theres alot of pikes out there..

maybe if we did some of the more common ones available

Ive been taking pics of all the different species available at LFSs in my vicinity so I can give this thread a kickstart as soon as I download and organize my photos. So far I have 5 different kinds. I think that it would be worthy of STICKY status, so lets see what our MOD has to say about this cuz Im running a little low on aatachment storage and need to post photos sparingly for now. I have xinguI, johanna, venezuela, saxatillis, and Im sure that I can come up with a few sveni frames. Wudya say Mr MOD?

that would be awesome. I think this would definitely help out the little guy who does know how to tell all the juvi's apart (ME)..

It would really really really be a pain in the butt. Geographical variation, human error, all that stuff makes it annoying. I've tried it before, and it just doesn't work out. People post pictures of subadults or adults, and before you know it its all jambled up with all sorts of pictures of all 'ages' of pikes. I suppose i could sticky a thread, close it, and only open it to add pictures and a description of what they are. The people with the pictures could email them to me and I'll save the pictures and then post them up.

The biggest problem is the lack of resources. You either have to have the pike yourself, or know someone who has them, cuz it isn't really that easy finding juv. pictures for several species of pikes. It will def. take some time, but it would be worth it. I'll try to look into it more. You would need a juv, and a subadult one though...especially for the Lugubris pikes! ;)

that would be cool, have it all go through you to avoid the clutter and confusion

I have life-line pics of a few species that I would be happy post up.

I agree and I hope this can get a sticky. I had just gotten a venezualian strigata and was told he would only be 8"!!! I just got a Xingu I to replace him as they don't get as big. I wish I could have just looked at a thread and able to get an answer but I spent 5 hours trying to ID it.
