Well I have been keeping fish on and off since I was about 17, and I have been somewhat unsuccessful my whole "career". My most recent failure was a tank of cichlids that also had two clown loaches, a rainbow shark, and a pleco. I had no idea what a cichlid was until I bought a used tank that came with these fish. It made me realize that I never want a cichlid again. After giving some away, and some dying, I am starting fresh. I threw away all the old substrate that came with the tank and replaced it with flourite. I packed away all my old artificial plants and slate and now have live plants in my tank. I was unsure about having live plants, but I think I will be able to care for them (hopefully). I was told the flourite was very good for live plants, so that is why I went with it. My tank is an 80 gallong long, VERY nice, and is stocked with 3 neon tetras, 2 other small fish I can not remember the name of right now, a shrimp, a snail and a Emperor tiger pleco (my pride and joy). I am working up to bigger fish but want to do it gradually so I know which fish introduces a disease if one getys introduced at all. I think I will be successful this time around and look forward to continuing my hobby. I hope I didn't bore all of you with my intro. Anything I left out that you may like to know, just ask... I'm a pretty simple person.
