So last year i got one hell of a tax return.....been saving it till my monsters have some growth spurts and require an even bigger tank. i currently have enough to buy a 900 gallon set up ive had my eye on for a while, however before i purchase it i would prefer to let them outgrow there current home (185 wide) as i live in a small place and already have 3 fair size tanks that i will converge into one (185,250, and a home built that i guess would be around 200) and this leads me to my question and the reason ive started this thread i have 3 motoro rays 2 males 1 female ideally how fast will they grow. the males are around 8" and the female was just recently aquired shes aready 3.5" and seems to be packin on the weight. I have also invested alot of money well atleast for me anyways into 2 leos and wat i believe to be 3 indos will this combo work in a big tank or am i asking for dead leos? sorry for the rookie questions ive only ever had motoros and my g/f figured it was time to get some "oreo" rays as she calls them. Any input will be taken into consideration! thanks

I personally wouldn't put that many fish in to a 900 as they are all going to achieve large adult sizes. Many will disagree though I expect.

Female Motoros grow like you wouldn't believe if given lots of food and quality water...if you go away for a week then you will see the growth on your return. I expect in your 900 she will get to the size of a dustbin lid within 3-5 years but will be bigger than a dinner plate within 12 months from now.

I would move up to the bigger tank as soon as possible, it is easier to keep the water quality, easier to move the rays when smaller and nicer for the rays to live in....moving a 24inch ray at the same time as breaking down one tank and setting up another gives me nightmares.

I am already thinking of upgrading my 300 gal to an 8x4x2.5 simply as I do. Ot relish taking my female out through the cover glass when she gets past 15-18inches.

yah ur prolly right hmm well if need be ill relocate 1 male motoro however i dont have that man fish 1 tank is just a plant tank with a pleco and the other holds the leos but ya prolly a good idea to do it sooner rather then later

The pleco should not go in with the rays as a general rule due to the, sucking on the slime coat.

Personally with adequate filtration, I see no problem with 5 rays and 3 indos in a 900.
Providing the footprint is Wide and not tall.
