Hi all,

I joined this forum awhile back but this is my first post.

My 180 gal. with baby dats and young rope fish seemed kind of whimpy, lol.

Just acquired my first real monster tank - 400 gallons.

Need it for eventual home of current stock plus a clown knife that is well over 18 inches long that was recently rescued from a 90 gallon tank.

In the planning process of moving the 400 tank 300+ rough miles from Anchorage to Valdez, hopefully next week.

Been in the hoppy over 30 years and am running about 1000 gallons total, mostly small stuff.

Looking forward to much needed advice once I get the 400 to town.

Thanks all!

Good to see a fellow north Lander, did you get the tank used in anchor town? I got my 450 built and delivered to Kenai because I couldn't find anything adequate on Craig's list. What are the dimensions on your new tank? Mine is 96x36 by 30 tall. I used my 150 that it replaced as my sump. What are your filtration plans?

I was going to use a 75 for the sump, but am considering resealing an old 100 I have laying around (literally laying around). Its predrilled on the bottom with 3 holes that are currently covered with a really thick piece of glass. Until I bring it to Valdez (this Thursday) I probably won't be able to get the dimensions of the holes.

Still doing research on the pump for the sump - definitely open for suggestions on that.

I was going to take it straight to my office (concrete floor - yes!) but have just about decided to bring in home and mess with it in the yard. Definitely painting the bottom black; haven't decided if I'll do the back or not. Plus, I figured it would be better to screw around with the sump outside - I've never done one before, lol.
