My name is Brian I am from Kitchener, ON. Can. I have been back into the hobby for 3yrs now (It's all my wife's fault, she saw a couple of nice fish and thought that they would look nice in a 20gal!) When I was first in the hobby I was all about SA's but now I am all about Africans primarily Tropheus! When we moved to the new house I was able to have a fishroom (much to the wife's dismay! LOL) I have slowly built up my collection. I have come up with some different Ideas. Let me know which you feel is better. Myself in conjunction with a LFS am now breeding Tropheus and other colourful Cichlids to supply them with locally breed livestock for sale to the public.
This was the original plan for my fishroom rack. 1 x 135gal, 4 x 50gal, 8 x 25gal
This is a ruff plan of the original idea.
16 25gal 18x18x18 =400gal
10 50gal 36x18x18 =500gal
4 135gal 72x24x18 =540gal
=1440gal total
Do to to height restrictions not taking into account I had to do some adjustments! Go figure!
This is th revised Fishroom rack!
Here are a few different options I have been tossing around. I the foreground of the picks is a cutaway of a cupboard and closet, the top left is the furnace run in grey.
16 25gal 18x18x18 =400gal
15 50gal 36x18x18 =750gal
6 100gal 72x18x18 =600gal
=1750gal total
24 25gal 18x18x18 =600gal
15 50gal 36x18x18 =750gal
6 100gal 72x18x18 =600gal
=1950gal total
16 25gal 18x18x18 =400
19 50gal 36x18x18 =950
8 100gal 72x18x18 =800
=2150gal total
32 25gal 18x18x18 =800gal
19 50gal 36x18x18 =950gal
8 100gal 72x18x18 =800gal
=2550gal total
Just a few ideas I have been kickin' around, I welcome your comments. I am not able to run a central sump system due to the cold cellar door so I opted for air line manifold around the top of the room to run sponge filters!
