Just a little warning after I caught myself being bad. Came home last night and a powerhead had dropped, kicked up sand and shut off the FX-5 or almost no flow. So I took her apart to clean the pound of sand in the sponges and at the bottm but, when I picked her up I instantly noticed the motor was loose to the touch and actually went a little sideways! If you've never taken your motor off there are two o-rings and a couple screws holding all the water in your tank back. I was glad I caught it and plan on checking it every cleaning now. Hope this helps. Cheers!

I swhiched over to white sand and was told to shorten up my intake higher. I have yet to try it... Imight hook up a overflow to filter. How high was your intake?

No, no impeller damage and the intake is about 5 inches off the sand but, its a 135g with really powerful pumps at either end. So powerful that the tank was one big cloud. Didn't seem to bother the fish though.

thank gonna check that out next time i clean the filter

I've had to take one apart one time b/c flo issues. and it just ended up that you can't fill all three media baskets with ehiem substrat pro. with out flo issues
