this moray belongs to a friend of mine...he keeps it with a bunch of swamp eels...should he give it a separate tank.....also...what species is it?...thanks guys...

it WAS in a freshy tank.....this pic was taken on the day he got it home and plonked it in....temporarily lived there...now hes in a brackish tank...
 
Looks like Gymnothorax tile.
 
likes similare to gymnothorax tile but might be a different species, there are sorta 2 species refrred to as gymnothorax tile
 
I know of 4 freshwater moray eel species(brackish)
-gymnothorax tile
-gymnothorax polyuranodon
- echidna rhodhilus
- gymnothorax afer
The one in the picture looks like gymnothorax tile, the snowflake moray eel. freshwater type.

Do you mean a seperate saltwater species, or converting G. tile to saltwater?

There is a saltwater species of "Snowflake Moray Eel", but it isn't a member of the Gymnothorax genus...it's Echidna nebulosa.
