hey guys/ladies

my name is caillum im 25 years old and iv'e got the fish bug :P just getting back into it again used to have a few big tanks 12x4x4's but sadly i had to give them away for awile due to the fact of having other priority's when my lil bub's was born 4 years ago.

well its been 4 years and alot has changed and happand so here i am with a few smaller set up's in a new house , been here about 1 week so far and only have for a 4x2x2 set up in my room , but i has a big garage so new big tank is in the planing not going to give away to much but it will be big enough to be impressive. but for now id would just like to share my 4ft in my room , water is a lil cloudy from new tank set up bloom in a few pic's but the fish are happy:)

here is my jaguar and my australian native murray cod ,along with some feeder gold fish and some feeder prawns.
very sadly this is my 2nd murray cod i did have a 32cm but he did not survive the move he got over stressed :(

what size is the cod? ive just got my tank back up and running but not sure what aus natives to get yet. i used to have a murray cod, how do they get on as tankmates?

my cod is around 5 to 6 inch's atm , they are a lovely fish to own they hide allot at this age but will eat anything that is same size as them or smaller , great personality's , my jag and cod dont fight , but if the cod had no where to hide the jag would terrorize him being the jag is 8 times bigger and has anger problems so would be no match.

ive kept murray cods with allot of fish but just keep in mind anything thats the same size or smaller will get eaten.
also have plans for the future for them because these fish do not stay small , they live upwards of 60+ years and will grow to 7ft +
there have been records of them liveing for 80 years in the wild but to be safe i say 60+ being in a aquarium.

i would not mix them with a barra as the barramundi's growth rate far exceeds the growth rate of a cod and the barra would have him for lunch. just being that the cod would still be allot smaller. over the coarse of a year or 2
example my barra grew from 3 inchs to 22+ inchs in one year feeding live food .

other option you have is maybe a sleepy cod they are a lil more dosil but sit on the bottom allot , ive had murray cods and sleepy cods living together as well.

great tank mates but make sure every other fish is twice as big.

just do a google search and learn as much as you can before picking tank freinds :) trail and error every murray cod i have owned is also differant in attitude and personality. also dont move your tank around alot as in ordaments or caves once you get one they dislike it very much , water current does not bother them to much thats just from my own research , in the wild they live in one place there whole lives

also murray cod like there water being around the 21 to 25 Celsius , so you also have to bring that into play with selecting tank mates , my jag likes 26 to 32 celsius , so my tank is set on 25 in winter , just be carefull of summer on those really hot days if your water starts getting up around 29 be worried and chill the water back down but not below 22

welcome to mfk caillum..love your jag... that crock looks pretty awesome too :WHOA:haha, have fun.

thanks mate :)

had the jag since he was a young juvi , in the middle of tracking down a suitable female companion atm.

had both those ceramic croc's for about 10 years now , found them in a garage sale of all place's $3 each :)
it is kind of funny when the jag decides to have a lay down inside there mouths
