Considering the OPs location, I would say that these are Florida gars.

Florida gars are much more readily available than spotted gars in the fish industry. It's almost a guarantee that any gar that looks like a Florida gar or a spotted gar purchased in an LFS is a Florida gar. The "spotted Florida gars" that are often seen for sale are just Florida gars that happen to have an impressive spotted pattern. It seems that the only guaranteed way to acquire true spotted gars is to get them from the wild within their natural range where they do not come in contact with Florida gars.

There is a reliable method to determine if a gar is a Florida gar or a spotted gar, but it's difficult to do without injuring/maiming/killing the gar, so I digress.

Those poor platties. Nice florida gars you got there.

I would say about 95% of the spotted looking gars you find in LFS are florida gars, unless someone caught them in an area that doesn't have florida gars then you might get lucky and get a spotted gar.

if yr into gar, you've come to the right place my friend...as above, florida gar...welcome to the MFK garmy:D
