hey guys can u help me out... I have 5 p bass right now, and had them ever since they were juvenile like not even 1".. anyways its now 2 months.. and there like 5.5" now... I have been totally power feeding.... but just feeders!!! someone told that is bad... and my cousin did the same and all his bass now have " hole in the head!" he has some huge ones.. but not worth anything.. can u guys tell me what else to feed them.. please kind of woried about them.. thank u guys.. and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Your cousin keep his tank clean? Only time I have ever seen fish get HITH is when living in a dirty tank but I have only seen 3 fish with it.

huge p-bass wouldnt do well in a 90, let alone an underfiltered one. An AC 70 wouldnt do very well for big cichla in a 90. HITH is probably due to poor water conditions for your cousins....but a varied diet is important...Have you tried them on pellets?

come on man u know they dont eat pellets... they usually like live foods.. it has nothing too do with water conditions nor tank size.. u have to remember these fish as long as they been fed or power fed can grow like crazy... HITH is due to lack of vitamins...everyone has told me that..oh yah its in a 90 g with an ac 70 and a sponge filter...

Thats why i suggested a varied diet. I know they like live foods....but if you arent going to feed them feeders what harm will it do to try others? try shrimp, beefheart, pellets, or silversides.....I still stick to thinking you need more filtration though. Goodluck and let us know what you come up with.

thanks for the ideas and ur time.. but im lost...lol.. its not filtration..I wish it would be that... but u got remember these are bass... its arrowanas, jardinis and stingrays that need special filtration.. but thanks again... I might end up selling them....lol

try feeding them earthworms, they like them

I've gave mine life food twice out of 6 months (a total of 16 goldfish) :)

Mine do eat pellets, other things i feed them are frozen krill, and bloodworms. Thats all that i've fed them, and i started when they were as small as yours, so thats prolly why there used to it now.

dude pbass need special filteration b/c they are extremeyl large fish and with large messy fish you get crap water quality.... and YES PBASS EAT PELLETS... if u cant get them on pellets stuff them inside the cut up market prawn(which you should be feeding your pbass)... 6 months you will see a huge difference. also yes filteration has alooooottt to do with it, as so does nutttrrients! pellets, shrimps, silversides, smelts, beefheart( but kinda craps up the water) you can feed and feeders as a treat once a week... get them mainly on shrimps and pellts or pellets inside shrimps!.. hikiari is a good source.. u cant be ignorants for the peole here do no what they are talking about... get another filter on that tank. a large canister or a wet/dry. and a 90 gallon ahahah dude do you know the rule? 1 inch per 10 gallons for health fish. how do those fish even move in that tank? ur cuz needs about a 300gallon to a 500gallon for adult peacocks... thats why this site is called monsterfishkeepers.. bc with monster fish you need monster tanks! i dont mean to sound like an ***hole either. take the peoples advise on the site they do knwo what they are talking about.. so in conclusion... get soem melafix.... a better diet for your fish... better filteration .... and do quite a few small water changes frequently... and u shall be fine..... if you have more question ask them PLEASE and you can also PM me with anythgin you might have to say or ask me as well!
