Hi everyone, I'm new to MFK and I need some advice on a topic. Plants and plecos and other herbivorous eating fish. I'm really experienced, been in the hobby for six years, and I've been working at a local fish store for over a year. But there's been a rock in my path. I want live plants in my tank. I have a 55 gallon Amazon biotype fish tank. With a Orbit marine LED lighting system with timer, a sand substrate with an aqua top canister filter with LED and with 2 big chunks of driftwood and a couple of rocks with fake plants. I like the fake plants, but I want the tank to be even more natural. I want to replace the fake plants with live aquatic plants native to the Amazon river or Orinoco river region. But I need some plants that will take a beating from 2 snowball plecos, a columbian spotted pleco, two black bar silver dollars (the smaller kind), and soon to be in the tank, 5 red tailed chalceus, and 5 three spotted earth eaters. Any advice from anyone who is experienced in this is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to MFK.

You'll have to experiment with different plants and find ones that the fish won't eat. Java fern, anubias, a crypt species. There are lots of species to try.
