They won't necessarily. Sometimes fry will huddle close to the bottom in a large group when the lights go off, but I've also seen them scatter about the tank. I usually leave some kind of nightlight on so the parents can find them. Otherwise they might become snacks for other fish in the tank.

A night light is a good idea, I will have to get one, I have con babies now that are doing great. I would have never thought of a night light.

I keep my brine shrimp hatchery in the fish room, so the light from the lamp I use keeps things pretty well-lit.

my cons fry always just dropped to the deck when i turned the light out and if the parents wanted to move them they just pick them up in their mouth, incidently i have a night light :)

lol i cant handle having any light on in my room, cant sleep if there is any form of light. hmmm, i keep telling them to get there kids in a safe place LMAO doesnt work either lol

I don't think the wild has a nightlight, and they seem to do a pretty good job reproducing there.

Nope it doesn't but it does have light bouncing off the moon and onto earth so technically the earth is never really pitch dark(like most people's rooms when they sleep.). I would opt for a night light of some sorts too, doesnt need to be big.
