Hey other side! long horned cow fish?

need some help..

what exactly do you need to know if you (your mom) wants to keep a long horned cow fish. I've been searching the web with little result.. so..

tankmates?

growth rate?

etc? just any good info you have.

i would say 125 gallon as the minimum size for one. You defientely want peaceful fish for the horn, anything that wont bully it. When they are stressed or dying they can release a toxin which can kill all of the inhabitants of the tank.

they eat pretty much everythihng so reef is out of the question, but you'll never have to worry about bristleworms or hitchicker crabs ever again

make sure you use charcoal because of the toxin issue. They are cool looking. I've been tempted before but I don't like to use charcoal on the particular tank I was going to put him in and decided against him because of the toxin issue. My motto was why take chances.

yeah the toxin is the worst part. peacful tank makes and a careful keeper should eliminate most of the risk
