Howdi,

Ummm, hate these intros. Too long, your a gas bag. Too short, your hiding something.

Anyway, I am very new to the "Big Tank" game. (My tank isnt THAT big, just 180 gallons but I think its a good place to start.) I actually got my tank specifically for my beautiful monster, Ali (Spotted Gar).

He is stunning but WOW, he grew so fast. When I bought him he was tiny (about 2"), that was 2 months ago. He is now 17" and growing, almost an inch a week. I did my research before I bought him (wasn't an impulsive buy). As I'm sure you all know, Spotted Gars live for about 18 years :) (Very cool) And they can grow to 3 feet but only about 2 in captivity. NOWHERE did it say that he would grow at about 1 to 2 cm (1/2 to 3/4 inches) A DAY!!!!!!!

So being the loving keeper I am, I got a 72x24x24 inch tank built for him. (By the by, I live in Thailand and it was 13 000 Baht for the Tank Covers and Stand. Currently 403.48 USD ;). (If you want a break down of everything, let me know.)

Thats my Main Monster and my pride and joy, Right next to my Fire Eel of course (He is incredible)

Dont want to go on too much. Like I said earlier I am very new to this game, but I LOVE FISH and my heart is completely in, not just keeping them, but caring for them. My fish make me so happy so I should make them just as happy.

I look forward to chatting with you all and hearing your pearls of wisdom.

Take care fellow monsters.
(I mean monster keepers ;))
