now i bred some pairs of jewels in bare bottom tank with no problem, but they are a bit disturbed as they are not feeling home like so,i need advice is breeding any fish with substrate layer on bottom similar to that bare bottom, will the parents miss them in gravel or will they rear them well like normal.i am also starting a new project on getting some pearly flowerhorns and red texas by breeding texas female with male flowerhorn,so will they be needing gravel to play with or to reduce their aggression on by shifting the gravel or its of no use.
