Just signed up, and thought id say hi!
I currently have a 6x2x2 Malawi community, containing numerous peacocks and mbuna, substrate is play sand, with LOTS of slate stacked into caves and passages for the fish to live in, temp is 77, pH 8.2, dkH 15, dgH 14, ammonia and nitrite are nil obviously, nitrate is between 5 and 10.
Lighting is via a 3 t5 tube luminaire, on for 12 hours a day, filtered by 3 rena xp4.
The tank has been up and running for just over a year now, I have never had bloat in my 5 years of keeping malawi!
I do 30% water change every week, using 1 tsp of bicarb and 1tsp of epsom salt per 20litres to buffer the water.
I feed hikari malawi pellets, seachem Malawi flakes, and frozen malawi mix, also i feed tinned peas as a treat, which they love.
I varie the food dailey, feeding smalled amounts, instead of missing a day here and there, seems to work well!
Anyway Im rambling.... sorry! lol
ps. anyone near me want some Hongi red tops?
They keep breeding like rabbits and I have millions... nearly
lol
