Howdy. Fish a plenty, photo skills that would make a 110 blush. My youngest daughter has been taking photo classes in High School and she's getting embarrassed by my digital P&S efforts so I agreed to partner with her on a new rig. Part of the deal is that she has to learn me some powerful photo skills, so I stumbled over here from Aquaria Central for some instant expert schoolin'.

After a quick trip through some of the gallery photos I was ready to stumble back out the way that I came...WOW! I've given up hope already. You are all no doubt wealthy and successful professionals. Anyway, 1st I'm off to get some input on some Nikon equipment. Hope this works out better for me then the new golf clubs did.

Welcome to the forum. :)

Aquatic photography is not about how much money you spend on gear. It's about developing an understanding of how to take photos of fish and using whatever gear you have in a way that gives you the best results.

Just take a look in the point n' shoot section to see what I mean. Some fantastic results using everyday affordable gear.

Light, light, and more light.

When I was stuck with a point and shoot I got some halogen spot lights (because I was broke) and I came up with a very acceptable photo. It can be done, all you need is the advice of others (which I gained almost exclusively from this site). Here is the shot from my kodak point and shoot, with the color from the halogen corrected in paint shop pro.
