I've recently decided to get back into a hobby I loved as a teen...aquariums, and based on the sort of fish I desire, this seems to be the right place to be.
As of today...
I have a 75 gallon saltwater set up; it only has a few damsels and a starfish, but it's my girlfriend's tank; so what can you do? And, I have two 20 gallon tanks in my bedroom that I have some tetras, danios, and angel fish in.
I'm currently building a cinder block and wood stand for a 75 gallon (48x24x16) plexiglass tank with a 25 gallon sump filter. That will house a couple of Oscars, some jack dempsies, and maybe a few more south American cichlids.
Next will be a 55 gallon for African cichlids.
I also have a 60 gallon that will be a reef tank, and a 48x24x9 that will be for corals and perhaps a few small coral friendly fish.
Ultimately I plan to take a section of my basement man-cave and build a 1000 or so gallon tank for a pair of arowana.
Yes...I have big plans! I was fortunate to be given 14 aquariums and lots of equipment from a family friend who is downsizing his home, so that made a great jump start. I suspect I'll keep most of them so I have some isolation tanks, and maybe convert a few 30 gallons into sumps.
