Hello,

I was wondering if someone could possibly help me with this question I have about Hi Fin Banded Sharks. I have become increasingly interested with these fish, and I have been looking at various sites trying to find a maximum size of one IN AQUARIA (captivity). I've seen anything from 1'-1.5' --- 2'. The reason being is I am soon to buy a 75 gallon tank, but I don't want to buy the Fish if it wont fit at any point in time. I've heard that they are very slow growers, something like 2" annually.
Thank you so much,

Shane, :headbang2

They are slow growers, but get to about 18-24inches

well uf you get some small ones it will take ages for them to out grow it, then up grade.
yes, no, maybe?

Nah, I think I'll just pass. I really wouldn't have the room to upgrade any bigger than 90 Gallons really, but I'm trying to just keep it at 75 Gallons. Thank you for your help though!

Shane, :)

Ok, good plan, if you cant get them a good home dont get them at all.

I just read an article on them in TFH. They get around 30" and are schooling fish. They end up looking dramatically different from juvi to adult.

They do look different. The dorsal fin stays the same size, so it's no longer "hi-fin". They also lose the stripes and become a mottled brown.

Does it look like this one.....If so....It is a very slllooooooooowwwww growing fish.....you could have it for a few years....mine has been in my 120 for almost 1 1/2 yrs and only grew maybe 2"s.....

Dont mind the horriable picture.....it was a camera phone at the time....
