So I have a 180 gallon cycled for 1 month fully set up with driftwood, rocks, great lighting, etc. Now I am ready to get the fish.

These are the fish I am considering. I want to ask you to help me get the best mix and match for the best colors. I definitely want the Festae. Besides that I am open. Btw if anyone has any festae fry or knows anyone on the site selling them I would appreciate the heads up!

1. Festae
2. Jaguar
3. Jack Dempsey
4. Green Terror
5. Synspillum
6. Friedrichsthalii
7. Polleni
8. Buttikoferri

Thanks!!

You have to have at least 1 jaguar, they're great to watch, they hold their own and then-some, and they have some pretty nice colors!

I really would like a couple of different species in the tank if possible to see what fish I like best that I will eventually breed. I am 21, and relatively new to the hobby. I am a 8 tanks from 5-55 gallons going currently, but I am excited for my first big tank where I can actually get some big fish.

salvini, green terror, jack dempsey, all male get them kinda young to grow up as tank mates. and add them gradually not all at once or your asking for a cluster **** i promise....been there done that!! you also have to remember do not overcrowd them these fish are very territorial. thats why i mentioned getting them young. also you have to remember at full grown they will be big depending on how good you keep the tank. the 3 i put in could max out as followed salvini 6-8in, GT 8-10, JD 8-12 this is just my expierence. also noticed the jag now as far as they go if you get one with good genes that thing could get upto 18in+ so keep that in mind also they can be really aggresive atleast mine was... he killed everything in sight.

All the fish you're considering sound great to me! Can't wait to see which ones you choose! Make sure you're prepared if one starts to rebel, because as you probably already know, each fishes behaviour depends on the individul fish. I would go for a jag to start off (but, Personally I just love jags!)

Actually, adding them together into the same environment is the preferred way. Adding new fish every now and again ends up with the newest fish being , well, the newest fish. With a proper sized tank, it's best to introduce all the stock at once and have everybody grow up together. No establshed territories

That being said, festae is a potentially 16" fish with tons of tude. It's also my choice for my centerpiece fish. I also have a GT, Jd, Midas, firemouth, con, and plan on adding either an RTM, Freddy or jag with a bocourti. In a 300. I may add an L114.

Absolutely agree ! For the OP to get his tank something it sounds like he wants then adding all the fish together and as youngsters sounds like it will be a must. Otherwise, the first "biggun" to be added will not tolerate any potentially threatening newcomers into his tank.
