Just popping in to say hi.
I used to have a SLR that I used for weddings, baby shoots, etc. However, all things come to an end and I eventually sold that and bought a compact digital.

The bug has, however, bitten again, and I recently bought a Sony A100 DSLR. with two lenses: 18-70mm f3.5-8 and 75-300mm f5.5-8. I find the challenge of change to be very daunting, but hope to learn what I can and be able to (hopefully soon) be able to take beautiful photos of, amongst others, the fauna and flora in mymy planted aquarium.

I am honoured to have found this site, and hope to be able to contribute soon.

cheers!
Richard

Welcome to APF, Richard. It's nice to welcome new members from all parts of the world - but I don't think we've got very many in South Africa so far, so this is a special pleasure. Cool avatar - I've only seen one species of rat/rabbit fish/chimaera in a public aquarium.

Thanks guys! I hope to be able to share soon, but it seems as though I am limited by my equipment. Smallest F is 3.5, which does not lend itself to macro photography. Also, Minolta has not made a remote that fits a Minolta/Sony flash boot. This means I cannot use my 300mm lens (only f5) because of lack of light. So, whilst I learn and save for a Minolta macro 100mm lens, I am photographing the cat!!
Any advice on how to overcome the limitations of my equipment so that I can photograph my fish and plants will be most welcome please ;-)
