Hello everyone! my name is Derek, 24, and i am from Southern California. I go to California State University of Fullerton and majoring in Entertainment Art/Animation. I've always loved fish and used to have an aquarium when i was really young. sad to say that was the last time I've been into the hobby.
I recently came upon this site and have been lurking for a few weeks just browsing and marveling at everyone's monsters and setups. I'm now really inspired to start up!
I've been making trips to all the local fish stores the past few weeks and have been browsing their fish. Almost every store has some fish that i like that the others don't! (i even made a trip to the amazing Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific just to see some spectacular fish!) I'm planning on starting with a 29 gallon and buying some fish that i like and see how well i do and then maybe stepping it up somewhere down the line to get some bigger aquariums and get a monsters of my own! I'm going to take it slow and make an effort to do well. I'm going to start by building my own aquarium stand! I've browsed the DIY section and have been inspired to Document/photograph my progress!
This site just has an awesome and helpful community that shows a amazing passion to this hobby. I'm really glad i stumbled upon this!
