Hi how many panaque in a 2ft tank??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What species and how many? There are lots of different panaques, they all get to different sizes.

Generally speaking you can keep them together and is a good idea to provide many different hiding areas. They graze on driftwood so that can be 2 birds with one stone if you get a few pieces in there.

thinking of puttting in 3~6" panaque all kind at the moment got L203,L191x2,L190x2
so maybe L27 and peru green inside and alot of L191 as they are much cheaper and still nice to keep

No. None of those can go in a 24" tank. If you put all those in there you would eventually have several 15"+ fish swimming in that very small tank.

If you want panaque in that 2 foot tank, go with like 3 clown plecs and 3 tiger plecs. Clowns get 4" and tigers get 3.5".

Dun worry small tank is only till they are much bigger then i shift it to bigger tank...I only worry if they will fight or get some illness easy if together..

youre gonna need lots of filtration to keep nitrates, etc. down so that they will be able to grow quickly. a single ac110 should do it it you want like 4 plecs.

it's always the don't worry I'll get a bigger tank if needed reply...LOL...:nilly: We need to have that remark book marked so people can just reference it.....:headbang2

Apparently you never have seen a tank with medium sized plecos and the amount of waste they contribute to a tank.. I'm not saying it can't be done however your margin of error becomes razor thin with a smaller tank an inefficient filteration ...... unfortunatley your fish suffer.

I kept 4 small royals (L27 and L190) between 10-14cm in a 2ft tank for about 6 months. But I wouldnt recommend it. It had 2 externals (1200lph and 1000lph) coupled with 50% weekly wc's and nitrates stuck at about 50-70 mgl. Nothing went wrong but they look much better in my 500 litre tank.

I had one 4" royal in a 29 with sand substrate and an AC70 for filtration. Within a short time I had ammonia spikes from the waste getting trapped under the sand. That was even with me stirring up the sand on a regular basis. I wont even keep a single royal in a 2' tank anymore. The amount it would cost to properly filter a 2' panaque tank would cost more than just buying a bigger tank IMHO. These fish create A LOT of waste.
