My name is Josh and I just joined the forum today. I'll start with my pet roster:
Fish:
Oscar (5") - Thompkins
Jack Dempsey (4.5") - Jackson
Pleco (3") - RJ
Reptiles:
Ball Python (6 months old) - Iggy
Pond Turtle (over 17 years old) - Yurtle
Mammals:
Minni Dachshund (3 years old) - Stanley
Orange Tabby Cat (3 years old) - Jello
Grey Tabby Cat (2 years old) - Duke
Seal Point Siamese (4-5 years old) - Izzy
But back to the fish. Right now the Jack Dempsey and Pleco are cohabitating with the turtle in a 55ga with multiple submersible filters. For anyone who wants to chastise me for this combo, well, I saw someone that had a similar tank going for quite awhile and I wanted to duplicate it. So far so good. The turtle and Jack seem to get along well, sitting inches from eachother without a care in the world and feeding together. The pleco... well, he eats algae, not much else to say about him. Eventually I'd like to get a larger aquarium. I think something in the 125ga range would be suitable.
Now for the Oscar. I got him as basically a rescue. He was not healthy but always has been a good eater. He's been quarantined in a 10ga for a few weeks getting healthy while I setup a permanent solution. I'm going with a 55ga or 75ga. Yeah, I'd like to go bigger but it's probably not going to happen right now and he really needs out of the 10ga hospital tank ASAP. Currently I'm working on setting up a sump filter. I plan to go the tub route. I bought a pair of Rio 1100s and I want to do the pvc overflow discussed here. I hope one Rio 1100 is enough, if not I'll use the second one.
Thanks for reading.
